Get Mugged with Donna Davis of San Francisco

Donna Davis MugsWe met Donna at her "Best to Be Green" event at the Calvary Presbyterian Church in the Pacific Heights district of San Francisco in May of this year. Since then she has searched for the right next green project. Her humorous "Get Mugged" reusable mug project is designed to reduce paper waste by those who frequent the local (or big chain) coffee shops near them. Her coffee "cup is ceramic with a removable plastic/rubber lid and bottom - so it can easily be microwaved and carried to and from the cafe without spilling the precious caffeine within. It's quite an improvement over the stainless steel or the plastic lined stainless steel versions," she says. The $16.95 mug is available at her store: Forbeadin', 1195 Church Street @ 24th Street, San Francisco, (415) 641-1414.

The New "Mileage Card"
Bank of America Brighter Planet Visa Card

The new Bank of America Visa card, dubbed The Brighter Planet Visa Card, offers carbon offset points for every dollar spent, and through December 2008, BofA will contribute a 50% matching quantity.  So, for every $1,000 you charge, you receive 1,000 EarthSmart points which BofA redeems monthly, trading them for renewable energy. That 1,000 point will offset 1 ton of carbon (the equivalent of taking 1 car off the road for 2 months). Users can calculate their footprint and then monitor their progress in offsetting their lifestyle throughout the year.
